Minutes 22/01/09

Present – Leonie, Grace, Gregor, Ewan, Kyra, Sam, Rhuie, Miss Bate

 

 

1.   Decided to save money by not sending off for badges. We will make our own. Leonie to make them

 

2.    We have been composting left over food but not cooked food.

 

 

3.   Mr Quigley has said that we can have an eco day. We will have a tidy up and planting morning and we will ask parents and Ted to help us. We will need trowels, spaded, gloves and plants.

 

4.   We will send a letter out – Kyra and Grace to write it.

  1. Council have not yet replied
  2. Doreen would like to be on the committee and we can go to her garden to look at birds
  3. Meeting everyday will be too much. We have decided to meet at least every half term
  4. Kyra has offered to talk to the parent council
  5. poster still to be done
  6. Barbara and Tracy will help as much as possible

1. Sell Fairtrade snacks and drinks at break time.

2. We need to write a letter letting everybody know what we will be selling.

3. We need to make a rota.

4. The snacks will be sold in the morning when the lunch order is taken.

5. Tuck shop will be run by the p4-7

Dear Parents,

As part of our celebrations for Fairtrade Fortnight and National Spring Clean Week we are holding three events.

1. Bunting Party!

Come and join us from 1:30pm onwards on Monday 14th of March. and help decorate bunting. As part of Fairtrade Fortnight we are trying to be part of the longest line of bunting ever! The bunting will be made of cotton and we will be looking in class at the prices paid to farmers and whether this is fair.

2. Big Spring Clean!

Please come and join us on Tuesday, 15th March to help tidy the school and village .We will also be planting plants! Please bring with you gardening tools old clothes and gardening gloves. We will be starting at 9 am and finish at 12pm. There will be lots of tea and biscuits.

3. Eco Extravaganza!

On the morning of Wednesday 16th of March we will be celebrating and sharing everything that we have done and hope to do to help us become more environmentally friendly!! We will be starting at 10:15am in the P4-7 classroom.

We do hope you can join us for most of our events!!

1. Our school is a mess. We need to tidy up our school. We need a big tidy. Big Tidy – 15th September. Tidy play grounds in morning and garden in afternoon. Ewan and Grace to make leaflet.

2. Grass seed on path in garden

3. Fund raising, sponsored walk. Walk in Fairburn Woods

4. Attracting more wild animals.

5. Every second Friday in the afternoon have a litter and gardening club.Alex and Fraser to make leaflets.

6. Tell other classes to maintain vegetable beds.

7. Louise and Aaron look at Electricity meter. Alex and Fraser to look at water meter.

8.Plastic bottle green house. Count bottles next Tuesday.

9.Fill up bird feeders every Wednesday.

10. Sell Eco Bags

11. Ask pub, Fairburn if they could sell bags.

12. Ask Gregor’s Mum if she could sell bags too.

13. Look into the cost of bark chipping for our path.

Minutes

1.Miss Bate read out the minutes of the the last meeting.

2.Alex asked Mrs Urquhart how much we have in our account. We have £115.09,including a grant for grow bags.

3.We decided on big projects litter pick everyday,need to apply for trim trail and climbing wall,apply for green flag,have a gardening club,have a sponsored walk,take water readings.

4.Need to check if we have more wildlife.

5.Ewan M and Alex need to make leaflets for a gardening club.

  1. 6.   We have built our plastic bottle green house with help from John the janny and EVERYBODY!!!!
  2. 7.    Gregor M needs to make a rota for reading electricity meter and water meter.
  3. 8.    Fill up bird feeders every Wednesday.
